Tuition Waiver - Eligibility
The New School offers a Tuition Waiver benefit for courses taken at the university, which applies to tuition and mandatory fees. This benefit is available to faculty, staff, and eligible family members (spouse, same- or opposite-sex Qualified Domestic Partner, and children).
Who is eligible? When can they begin class?
The below individuals are eligible for tuition waiver benefits, some of which require a wait period for before enrollment. Requests for additional courses (that exceed the plan maximum) require written approval from the Employee’s supervisor and Human Resources via the Tuition Waiver - Application Process.

What courses are eligible?

Eligible Courses:
- Non-credit adult continuing education courses and certificates and select courses offered by The School of Public Engagement (SPE) found on the University’s Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) website.
- Private lessons, taken as part of a program in the Mannes Prep Division, are eligible for a discount of 25% of the total cost.
Other courses are available only to individuals admitted to a program of study for which the requested course is part of the curriculum. Anyone interested in being admitted to a program of study should contact that program's admission office for further details.
Ineligible Courses:
- Private lessons are not available for non-matriculated students in the Mannes College Division.
- All other courses not referenced above are not eligible under this plan, including, but not limited to:
- Study abroad programs, such as those offered through Parsons, Parsons Paris via CPE,The Lang/Global Citizen Year Fellowship, etc.
- Executive Education programs
- Partnership programs such as Coursera, Yellowbrick, and Kaplan; SPE courses in partnership with the International Culinary Center; and Parsons Executive Education programs in partnership with other institutions
