Payroll Schedules Overview

Payroll schedules are developed one year in advance, and small changes may be required as the year progresses. Occasionally dates may need to be changed during the year for other reasons. We will send a notice if this occurs.

Payroll FAQ

General Questions

I expected a paycheck today. Why didn't I receive payment?
Hours do not get pulled into payroll if they have not been both submitted and approved. Hours submitted and approved after deadline will pay out when Payroll reopens for processing in the upcoming run. Contact your supervisor to ensure that your time was approved.

What is the next pay date?
PDF versions of all Payroll Schedules are available under Payroll Schedule.

How do I change my address?
You can update your address in MyDay by selecting the Personal Information worklet.

Timesheets

How do I submit my hours?
Hours are entered in MyDay by signing in and selecting the Time worklet.

When should I submit my time sheet to my supervisor for approval?
Time sheets should be submitted in MyDay each week by the end of the day on Friday.

How are supervisors notified when time sheets are awaiting their approval?
Once hours are submitted a notification is sent to your supervisor by email and also in the MyDay system.

What happens if my time sheet is not submitted or approved by the due date?
Hours do not get pulled into payroll if they have not been both submitted and approved. Hours submitted and approved after the deadline will pay out when payroll reopens for processing in the upcoming run.

How are supervisors and employees notified that time has not been submitted or approved?
System alerts have been set up to remind employees and supervisors to submit and approve time.

Direct Deposit

How can I update my payment elections?
Employees can update payment elections using MyDay, but only when they are accessing the system on the New School campus network. See instructions at Manage Direct Deposit & Payment Elections.

What if I don’t have a bank account?

If you don't have a bank account, you can still receive your pay through alternative methods. We offer two options:

  1. Pay card: A pay card is a prepaid debit card onto which your wages are automatically loaded each payday. This is a convenient option that works similarly to a bank account without requiring one.
  2. Paper Check: Your paycheck can be printed and mailed to your address as listed in MyDay. Please note that receiving a paper check may take longer than electronic payment methods.

How can I get a copy of my pay slips?
Pay statements are available on

MyDay under the Pay Worklet. All pay statements going back to July 2016 can be viewed by date.

Taxes

How do I update my tax withholding?
Changes to tax withholding can be made at any time in MyDay. See the instructions on how to Change Withholding Elections.

Why did my student paycheck have taxes withheld?
All full-time students are exempt from OASDI (Social Security) and Medicare taxes during the academic year. Federal, state, and city taxes are withheld on the basis of the information submitted on the applicable tax forms.
