Guru Organizational Structure
Content in Guru is organized generally by three levels: Collection, Folder, and Card.
You may navigate through this hierarchy within the Guru web app (app.getguru.com). Use the browser extension instead to find cards, see your favorites and follows, as well as recently viewed and newly added content.

Collection
A Collection is the highest level of organization within Guru. Collections generally represent different schools, departments or business units of our university. Most user permissions are controlled at the Collection level.
Collections may be accessed via the left-hand navigation menu of the web application (four squares icon, pictured below). You cannot browse through the hierarchy in the browser extension.
As pictured above, Pin Collection saves a Collection to the left-hand menu for quick access.
TIP: You may filter your search by Collection to narrow down the results.
Similar to "shortcuts" in Google Drive, content may appear in more than one Folder (described below) within a Collection. Content can only live within one Collection.

Folder
Folders are the next organization level below Collection in Guru. Folders are broader topics by which we group information. A listing of Folders within a Collection may be found in the left-hand menu of the web app, denoted with arrow icons ( ▶).
Click the arrow next to a Folder to show/hide its contents. Similar Folders may be nested three levels deep. As with Cards, Folders may be saved to your Favorites for quick access. Content within Folders may also be downloaded as a single PDF. Additionally, for those with advanced permissions, Folders may be shared with individual users and Groups (similar to Collections and Cards).
Card
Now for the infamous card! Cards are individual pieces of content. They are the specific information we want to maintain and share, such as policies, procedures, FAQs, announcements, and more. Cards can be compared to "articles" or "posts" in other knowledge base applications, specific web URLs, or even documents.
In addition to having an organizational structure (Collection and Folder(s)), cards may also have Tags that help facilitate faster searching. You may Favorite cards for easy access, and even share or download card content.
Cards may be found directly through their specific URL, via knowledge search/questions, or by navigating through the Collections and their Folders. Cards may be contained within a Folder (described above) or at the Collection-level. The green checkmarks next to the cards indicate their verification status; red exclamation marks indicate that content is unverified.
For those with advanced permissions, each card may have its own privacy settings in addition to that of the Collection or Folder.
