12) Enroll in Benefits

Staff and full-time faculty generally become eligible for benefits the first of the month following one full month of employment. Part-time faculty generally become eligible or after teaching for at least one academic year. Familiarize yourself with the benefit options in Benefits Overview, noting that benefits vary in their eligibility criteria. When it comes time to enroll, please refer to the MyDay Benefits Guide for instructions.

Contact BenefitsHelp@newschool.edu with any benefits-related questions.

13) Complete Performance Check-In and Review (staff only)

Check in with your manager regularly to discuss how you're doing and any support you may need to meet their expectations. Your manager should speak with you to review your performance after you've been at the university for around 45 days. Refer to the Professional Development Resources if you need to develop any competencies, and request feedback to demonstrate that you are continuously striving to improve your performance.

After 90 days, your manager or supervisor will complete a short review and formally communicate to you whether or not you have successfully completed the Introductory Period. You should review your goals in MyDay and make any revisions or updates if necessary (remember to ask your manager to approve the changes!).
